Cycling 8 days/ 7 nights 

camilleri-montalbano-225x300The Fans of the literary Montalbano know very well the places where the drama of the Inspector Montalbano is set, and are aware that they have fancy names, but only the names though, because these places exist. The idea to create a bike trail where, with or without Inspector Montalbano, cycling discovering the places loved by the writer Andrea Camilleri and brought up to life through Salvo Montalbano it seemed wonderful to us. Here is the route that winds through the legendary names of Montelusa, Fela, Vigàta, Marinella then a stop in Piazza Italia heart of the police station or visit the Mannara, in time to have a hearty lunch at the “Trattoria da Calogero”

1st day: Agrigento

Arrival and transfer to the first accommodation

2nd day: Agrigento – Porto Empedocle – Licata 55 km

in the morning visit of the magnificent Valley of Temples: the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde, one of the most well-preserved Doric temple in all the Greek world, the Temple of Ercules and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Then leaving towards Licata, passing through Porto Empedocle with its port connecting the big island to the Pelagie Islands

3rd day Licata Vittoria 65 km

After breakfast, you will cycle trough an amazing road passing through vineries and unforgettable landscapes, a coastal cycling that lead you to Vittoria, his busy agricultural town rises at the foot of the Monti Iblei, not far from the sea in a dominating position on the picturesque Ippari valley. The 17th-century church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake that severely hit eastern Sicily, has valuable altars in polychrome marble, is worth a visit.

Donnafugata_024th day Comiso Donnafugata Scoglitti Puntasecca 40 km

From Vittoria you will cycle to reach Comiso and Donnafugata, famous for its Magnificent Castle. then Scoglitti a little town with a long beach where you can relax. Then you will finally reach Puntasecca and have some time to enjoy the balcony where actor Luca Zingaretti is often shown staring out to the sea, sipping his coffee in a pale blue dressing gown.

6th day Marina di Ragusa – Scicli – Sampieri 38km

In the morning leaving for another day cycling to reach Scicli, wonderful baroque town with its many churches and elegant atmosphere. You will recognize a lot of places that it will seem to be part of one of the many episodes of the novel. Then Sampieri, an old fishing village, perhaps the most picturesque in the province’s shore, its stone houses jostled with one another, bordering a maze of narrow streets.

On your last day cycling you will reach the elegant town of Modica where the Main Church, dedicated to San Giorgio, really deserves a visit, amazing landscapes especially if you look from up the many steps. Not to miss a visit and a tasting to the close shop selling spicy chocolate the town is so famous for. Then Ragusa Ibla, a jewel of the region, a lot of Churches, piazze, lots of places to have a stop and admire the Baroque style that you can feel everywhere.

8th day: Departure
